Can a casual rider complete 65KM on a trifold bike in a cycling event dominated by high-performance road bikes?
George did.
He was not a professional athlete. He did not follow a structured endurance training programme, and he did not arrive with a lightweight road bike built purely for speed.
He arrived with a TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 PRO trifold bike.

At the Spinneys Dubai 92 65KM Build-Up Ride, George faced a demanding 65KM route in strong, windy conditions. Riding alongside hundreds of road bikes, the TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 PRO stood as the only trifold bike to take on the challenge and successfully complete the full distance of 65KM, finishing in an impressive 2 hours and 35 minutes.
After completing the ride, George shared his honest experience:
“This is not easy. But I’m really glad I used the TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 trifold bike. It helped a lot throughout the ride. The ride was smooth, and I didn’t experience any chain drops, even though I had to keep shifting gears at different levels. It saved me a lot of worries. The bike also felt stable and secure. The road bikes were very fast, but I still felt comfortable and stable riding among them.”
The Only Trifold Bike to Complete the Spinneys Dubai 92 65KM Build-Up Ride
The Spinneys Dubai 92 Build-Up Rides attract experienced and performance-focused cyclists preparing for the main Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge. All participants joined the 65KM ride on high-performance road bikes designed for long-distance riding, speed and efficiency. Their bikes featured aerodynamic riding positions, narrow tyres, performance drivetrains and full-sized wheels. George was the only exception, riding a TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 PRO trifold bike.
In general, trifold bikes are often associated with convenience, like city commuting, public transport and compact storage. Road bikes, on the other hand, are designed with a stronger focus on performance, speed and efficiency.
But George’s 65KM ride on the TAKACHIA TIIME SERIES C20 PRO shows that convenience does not have to come at the expense of performance. The TAKACHIA trifold is designed to be practical and easy to live with, but when the road gets longer and the pace gets faster, it is still capable of holding its own. Riding alongside road bikes for 65KM, George experienced a smooth and stable ride that gave him the confidence to keep going.
It may fold like a city bike, but there is more to a TAKACHIA trifold than just convenience.
The TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 trifold took on the full 65KM challenge alongside road bikes purpose-built for speed and long-distance performance and completed the ride in under three hours. It was a real-world demonstration of what a well-engineered trifold bike can achieve with the right rider, preparation and mindset.

Breaking Limits on a Different Ride: George’s “Mission Impossible” Challenge
Before the event, he made only a few practical adjustments to his TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 trifold. At 183cm tall and around 110kg, George found the original setup of his TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 comfortable for everyday riding. But this was not an everyday ride. For the 65KM challenge, he made a few small adjustments to prepare the bike for a more demanding pace — raising the seatpost for a more performance-oriented riding position and fitting higher-pressure tyres to improve rolling efficiency.
These were practical adjustments to suit George’s height and the demands of a longer ride. The core of the bike remained unchanged, its frame, drivetrain, stability technology and trifold design were all still the same.
George was not a professional cyclist or a performance-focused athlete. He was simply a passionate casual rider willing to attempt something that many would not expect from a traditional trifold bike.
As the kilometres passed and the Dubai heat began to take its toll, fatigue started to build. Maintaining the required pace became increasingly difficult, both physically and mentally.
Rather than thinking about the entire 65KM, George broke the ride down into smaller targets. He stayed close to the cyclists ahead, followed their rhythm, kept himself hydrated and focused on reaching the next section.
One kilometre at a time, he kept moving forward.
His mindset was simple:
“Don’t think. Just go for it.”
Determination kept him moving, while the TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 PRO trifold gave him the confidence to keep pushing as the kilometres added up. One section at a time, George crossed the finish line.

How the TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 Helped a Casual Rider Complete 65KM
The TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 trifold bike is designed to combine compact folding convenience with the stability, comfort and riding efficiency needed for longer journeys.
Several of its technologies became especially relevant during George’s 65KM ride.
TAKACHIA Auto-Stabilizing Tech 2.0 for Predictable Handling
Riding among hundreds of cyclists requires steady and predictable handling, especially when riders change speed or move unexpectedly.
TAKACHIA Auto-Stabilizing Tech 2.0 uses optimised frame geometry and centre-of-gravity positioning to create a more naturally balanced riding feel.
This made the bike more manageable when George needed to follow the group’s rhythm, respond to changing speeds and maintain control as fatigue increased.
The technology did not remove the physical demands of the ride, but it gave George greater confidence in how the bike would respond.

Titanium-Shafted Suspension for Long-Distance Comfort
Repeated road vibration can gradually increase discomfort and fatigue during a 65KM ride.
The titanium-shafted suspension on the TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 is engineered to absorb up to 80% of riding vibrations, reducing the harshness transferred from the road to the rider.
This helped make the prolonged ride more comfortable and manageable as the kilometres accumulated.
Hollow-Tech System for More Efficient Pedalling
Maintaining momentum over a long distance requires efficient power transfer.
The Hollow-Tech System is designed to transfer the rider’s pedalling effort into forward movement more efficiently, helping to reduce unnecessary energy loss.
For a casual rider completing 65KM, greater pedalling efficiency became increasingly valuable as fatigue began to build.
SHIMANO Sora 9-Speed Drivetrain for Changing Conditions
The TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 is equipped with a SHIMANO Sora 9-speed external drivetrain and an 11–32T cassette.
This gave George a practical range of gears for adjusting his effort as the group’s pace, road conditions and his fatigue level changed.
Smooth and reliable shifting also helped him maintain a consistent rhythm without unnecessary interruptions.
TAKACHIA Anti-Chain-Drop Tech for Drivetrain Reliability
A dropped chain can quickly interrupt a rider’s momentum, particularly during a fast-moving group ride.
TAKACHIA Anti-Chain-Drop Tech uses precision chainline geometry and controlled chain tension to help keep the chain securely engaged during riding and shifting.
Reducing the risk of chain-related interruptions allowed George to concentrate on maintaining his pace and following the riders ahead.
4130 Chromoly Steel Frame for Strength and Resilience
The TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 uses a 4130 Chromoly steel frame, selected for its combination of strength, durability and resilience.
During the 65KM ride, the frame provided a solid and reassuring foundation as the distance increased. Its resilient riding character also complemented the suspension and stability-focused geometry, helping the compact trifold bike remain composed throughout the challenge.
Together, these technologies gave George the stability, comfort, drivetrain reliability and riding efficiency needed to take on a long-distance cycling event.
They did not complete the challenge for him. They gave a casual rider a capable trifold bike with which to attempt it.

Beyond Commuting: What George’s 65KM Trifold Bike Ride Proves
George’s achievement proves that modern, well-built folding bikes can go far beyond the traditional expectations of what a compact folding bike can achieve.
That is exactly what makes George’s achievement meaningful.
The TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 trifold bike did not simply appear in a road-bike-dominated event. It completed a recorded distance of 65KM alongside road bikes built specifically for endurance performance.
More importantly, George’s ride shows that choosing a compact trifold bike does not necessarily mean accepting a limited riding experience. Based on his sharing, he enjoyed the ride more than he suffered through it. And that is part of the TAKACHIA philosophy.
A trifold bike is not only about convenience and compactness. It is also about the riding experience, the confidence to go further, and the freedom to enjoy the journey in your own way.
George has already set his next target: 85KM.
After completing 65KM alongside hundreds of road-bike riders, he is ready to discover how much further he and the TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 trifold can go. His advice to other cyclists remains simple:
“Just cycle and have fun with it.”

How far can a TAKACHIA TIIME Series trifold bike go?
There is no single distance limit determined by the folding design itself. How far a trifold bike can go depends on a combination of factors, including the rider, preparation, terrain, weather, and riding conditions. But of course, the bike setup and overall bike performance also play a very important role in determining how far and how comfortably a rider can go.
Real-world rides from TAKACHIA riders have already demonstrated that these compact folding bikes can go far beyond everyday commuting.
George completed 65KM on a TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 trifold bike during the Spinneys Dubai 92 65KM Build-Up Ride, riding alongside hundreds of road-bike riders. He has since set his next personal target at 85KM.
In Malaysia, another TAKACHIA rider completed a 110KM route in just 3 hours and 57 minutes on a TAKACHIA A16 trifold bike, maintaining an impressive average speed of around 30KM/H.
Another TAKACHIA C16 rider completed a 155KM cross-border endurance ride from Kangar, Malaysia to Hat Yai, Thailand and back over two days.
The capabilities of TAKACHIA folding bikes have also been demonstrated over much longer distances. A Polish couple riding TAKACHIA trifold bikes completed a 750KM cycling tour across Korea, carrying luggage along the journey and demonstrating that a folding bike can also be used for extended touring and multi-day adventures.
TAKACHIA riders have also taken part in organised cycling events such as OCBC Cycle 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, competing alongside thousands of cyclists from around the world across 25KM and 50KM routes. The event also saw TAKACHIA riders achieve impressive results, including 1st place in the women’s category and 3rd place in the men’s category.
The distance a rider can achieve ultimately depends on the rider, the bike, and the riding conditions. But from 65KM to 110KM, 155KM cross-border endurance rides, and even a 750KM cycling tour across Korea, these real-world experiences show that a TAKACHIA folding bike does not have to mean limited riding distance.
And this is exactly what TAKACHIA is built for. TAKACHIA trifold bikes are not designed simply as traditional folding bikes for short commutes or convenient storage. They are engineered to offer a more capable and enjoyable riding experience, while still giving riders the convenience of a compact trifold design. We believe riders should be able to enjoy the freedom of folding small, without having to compromise on how far they can ride or how much they can enjoy the journey.
For TAKACHIA, folding small does not mean riding small.

Is the TAKACHIA TIIME Series 20-inch Trifold suitable for tall and Heavier Riders?
Yes. The TAKACHIA TIIME Series 20-inch trifold bikes are designed to accommodate a wide range of rider heights and weights.
At approximately 183cm tall and 110kg, George completed the Spinneys Dubai 92 65KM Build-Up Ride on a TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20 PRO. He also rides the TAKACHIA TIIME Series A20 in other Build-Up Rides, showing that both 20-inch TIIME Series models can suit taller, heavier riders.
Both the 20-inch Chromoly C20 and aluminium A20 are rated to support riders up to 120kg. Based on TAKACHIA riders’ experience, the TIIME Series can also accommodate riders around 190cm tall, depending on body proportions and bike setup.
With a taller ground-to-handlebar height and adjustable riding position, the C20 PRO and A20 offer a more spacious fit for taller riders without sacrificing compact folding convenience.
