Riding Through a Historic First in JB
OCBC Cycle Johor Bahru 2025 marked a special milestone as the first-ever OCBC Cycle held in Johor Bahru, and TAKACHIA was proud to be part of this historic ride.
Held on 14 December 2025, the event transformed the heart of Johor Bahru into a cyclist-only playground. With full road closures, strong police and RELA support, and a thoughtfully planned route, riders from Malaysia, Singapore, and neighbouring countries came together early in the morning, united by the joy of cycling through a city made entirely for riders.
Our Ride at OCBC Cycle JB
The TAKACHIA team joined the 21 km City Ride, rolling out from Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) at Jalan Dato’ Onn.
It was a relaxed yet energising loop, scenic, well-managed, and designed for riders of all backgrounds. On the road with us were a mix of TAKACHIA bikes, including:
TAKACHIA TIIME Series C20
TAKACHIA TIIME Series A16
TAKACHIA REDEFINE Series (Liquid Smooth)
The closed-road conditions allowed everyone to ride with confidence, enjoy the climbs, and truly feel the flow of the route. At peak moments, our group recorded a maximum speed of 50.6 km/h, showing what well-designed folding and performance bikes can achieve in the right environment.
A Moving Postcard of Johor Bahru
One of the highlights of OCBC Cycle Johor Bahru 2025 was the route itself. Riders passed through many of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, including:
• Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim
• Masjid Sultan Abu Bakar
• Istana Besar Johor
• Istana Bukit Serene
• Persada Johor
• Laman Mahkota Istana
• Kuil Lama Johor
• Gerbang KM Sifar
It was more than just a ride. It felt like cycling through Johor Bahru’s history, culture, and identity.
Riding Together with the Community
Events like this bring cycling communities together in a very real way. Along the route, we met fellow riders using TAKACHIA trifold bikes, exchanged quick conversations, shared encouragement on the climbs, and connected through a common love for riding.

We were also happy to ride alongside familiar faces:

•TAKACHIA Malaysia Ambassador SayaJJ, riding his TAKACHIA A20
•The Lipatist team, representing the folding bike community from Johor Bahru
•TAKACHIA Dealer in Malaysia, Johor Bahru Khass Bicycle team , joining as fellow participants
For us, joining events like OCBC Cycle is not only about presence. It is also about listening. Exchanging feedback and real riding experiences helps us better understand what riders truly need from their bikes, and keeps us closely connected to the community we build for.
A Strong Start for OCBC Cycle JB

With participation capped at 3,000 riders, OCBC Cycle Johor Bahru 2025 delivered a well-organised and memorable experience. From smooth logistics to a carefully planned route, it set a strong foundation for what will likely become a signature cycling event in southern Malaysia.
For TAKACHIA, it was a meaningful way to close the year. Riding together, meeting the community, and being part of a historic first.
Moments like these continue to shape how we design, refine, and build bikes for real riders, on real roads.
